Rock Storm 2010: Hanoi – A Nice Feast???

(RockPassion.Vn) – The rock journey through Vietnam started first from My Dinh National Stadium, Hanoi. With the presence of popular bands like: Pentatonic, Final Stage, Nuranium, Rosewood, Microwave, singer Thai Thuy Linh, director Tran Lap, a hot – stormy rock show was  brought up to blow away the the early northern coldness.

Thousands of rock fans has turned up at My Dinh stadium to greet the “Storm”. There still hundreds outside the gate, crowding and elbowing when the show already started; the security team had to close the gate due to such amount of fans pouring to the stadium. However, hey were later guided to get in through the side paths.

Hands held high

The rock fire was started up by Nuranium with their Metalcore style. With the appearance of new vocalist Pham Nguyen Hai together with the new style of sound blending, Nuranium did attract rock fans to enter the party from the very first seconds. Many extremist fans caused the broken barrier to the stage owing to elbowing and pushing.

Nuranium fired the starting gun

It seemed such a long time that rock fans had to wait to be sunk in the passion of their favorite music, and the beginning performance of Nuranium did satisfy them. Song played by Nuranium: “Uranium 238″, “World In The Mirror”, “The part of light” và “Broken”, which created the most perfect ever performance of Nuranium in rock storm’s stage. It should be the drummer Chu Viet Kien to receive the best compliment. Behind the drum set, he was not anymore a little guy with silence, but a magic man with his style of speed  and power, able to tear out the atmosphere. It must be a miss if we don’t talk about Tang Xuan Kien, Nuranium’s guitar bass, who no longer keeps his performance at a “bass tone”. It was also the presence of Xuan Truong and Quoc Hung, among the first guys from the very first days of Nuranium.

Sweat it, guys!

Vocalist Nguyen Hai - the missing element found?!

This year’s female singer as the guest of the show was Thai Thuy Linh. She continued with the cover sets of Gat Tan Day (Fullashtray) (“Chum Nho Chin Mong”, “Dam Cuoi Chuot”), under the enthusiastic support from Tang Xuan Kien, Chu Viet Kien (Nuranium) and Vu “Mom” (ex member of Thanh Gia Do and Dong Do). Her powerful voice was on the contrary with her small features onstage, which greatly appealed the rock fans’s hearts

Exploded with Nuranium, efferescent with Thai Thuy Linh, the crowd was sunk in the songs of colors and romance with the performance of Rosewood. The My Dinh Stadium had dissolved their showcase of talent with the blues/alternative sound of “Am Thanh Thoi Gian”, “Dieu Bo Quen”, “Mot Dieu La Mai Mai”. It was such a pleasure to see the position of Rosewood’s bassist was now Minh Duc, ex-member of Pentatonic.

Guitarist Vu Ha

After the minutes of gentleness with Rosewood, coming next was a familiar name after a long hibernation – Final Stage.

Guitarist Tran Viet Phuong

Bassist Khac Duy

They were back as ever a Death Metal band with songs: “Noi Am Anh Tren Bac Cau Thang”, “Van Hoi”, and “San Khau Cuoi Cung” – which also is the title of their coming album. The song is dedicated to guitarist Tran Viet Phuong, since he was going to leave the band for private reasons.

The backing mic problem couldn't spoil Final Stage's performance

Viet Phuong burnt himself out on his "final stage"

Vocalist Minh showcased his astonishing Death grunts

It could be a perfect performance of Final Stage if it wasn’t for the pity of back vocal rack, and the sudden low down of volume in the first moments. However, their appearance this time has affirmed their “ripness” and the coming album was being longed.

Coming next after Final Stage was Pentatonic. They was always the guys of attraction with full of band rolls around the stadium, and thousands tossed themselves up waving for their inspiration.

The name Pentatonic was like music to the burning crowd

The audience were deeply sunk in the melody of powerful but romantic Progressive music, composed from the mixture between modern music and folk.

A quiet moment for "Long Nguc Toi"

Microwave was the last band to turn up. With their catchy music under the new professional style, Microwave was really successful to make thousands of fans shouting their name. My Dinh Stadium had been shook around following the dancing steps of the fans.

Microwave

The five songs was performed then by Microwave were: “Bay”, “Hat Cat”, “Chi La Giac Mo”, “Nguoi Me”, and “Tim Lai”.

Mastering the stage

Professional performers

Despite the end of the show,  most of the crowd still remained at the stadium. The name Tran Lap was announced as the ex-member of legendary band Buc Tuong, and now – the director of Rock Storm 2010 to give the sincere thanks to the enthusiastic support of fans. The moment was followed by the famous songs: “Cay Bang”, “Nguoi Dan Ba Hoa Da”, “Duong Toi Ngay Vinh Quang” to mark the end of the show. Rock fans sang together the last song with Tran Lap heartily.

Never ever before was there a rock show that attracted such great amount of fans, and neither did any show had taken place before remained the fans till the very end minutes like Rock Storm 2010 last November 28. Rock Storm Hanoi has ended perfectly in the happiness as well as pity to leave of rock fans. Rock Storm 2010 has developed a lot from the last one in 2009 in the operation of sound, light… that created a smooth continuity between rock bands in their turns to play.

A fan girl

The show has welcomed more than 20.000 fans. The busy crowd has caused many cases of fainted fans due to elbowing, pushing in the area near the stage. One guy got fainted but was not taken to hospital until half an hour after the show started. Rock Storm 2010 has encountered the same problem as ever to handle with such great amount of fans. Ticket check was nearly passed by when fans continued to elbowing and pushing, thus the tickets became valueless.

The party “Mobifone- Rock Storm 2010” did brought the fans such delicious and free dishes. However, the road to guide fans to the party still laid many shortcomings. The rock fans had been spending such hard time to approach a free party like that and there would be still a question that how many fans did pay from Vnd 50,000 – 150,000 to get the tickets from the black market.

Farewell, Hanoi! Rock Storm 2010 still left fans wondering
