“Not Alone” – Linkin Park’s dedication to the victims of Haiti

(RockPassion.Vn) – Music For Relief (MFR) is a charity founded by the band Linkin Park. The goal is to provide relief and aid to victims of natural disasters  and the prevention of such disasters. It seeks to bring the music community together to maximize the efforts to create awareness and raise funds for those in need.

Since its inception in 2005, MFR has raised over $3 million for the victims of the tsunami tragedy in Southeast Asia, hurricanes Katrina, Rita, Hanna, Gustav & Ike, Wildfires in Southern California, the 5.12 earthquake in China, and most lately, the Haiti’s earthquake. MFR also sent musicians and volunteers to help rebuild and donate supplies to people in need.

MFR has organized two benefit concerts featuring multi-platinum artists and celebrity guests. The first show took place on January 17, 2005 and included Tenacious D, Beck, Will Ferrell, Dave Grohl, Josh Homme, and Eddie Vedder. The second show took place on February 15, 2005 and included Story of the Year, The Crystal Method, Linkin Park, Camp Freddy, No Doubt, and Jurassic 5. On January 19, 2009 Linkin Park released a brand new song called “Not Alone”, included in a compilation of MFR to help donate for the victims of Haiti. Other artists featured in this album are Dave Matthews Band, Slash, Alanis Morissette, The All-American Reject, Hoobastank… A new website has also been launched for the project here where the complete compilation can be downloaded and donated.

MFR is calling for community consciousness over the Haiti's earthquake

“Our hearts go out to the people of Haiti,” Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington said in a statement sent to MTV News. “We pray that this initiative provides some relief and support to the survivors and hope we inspire our fans, friends and families to make donations as well.”
