Against human trafficking: Rock can send a strong message

[] – On 26th of May 2012, Simple Plan absolutely was the name had been called the most in town. It’s easy to understand because they had made a mass explosive at My Dinh stadium in the MTV EXIT free concert. Why rock? Why Simple Plan? The number of 40,000 attendances joined the show would be the most exactly answer!

Simple Plan is made up of Pierre Bouvier (Vocals) / Chuck Comeau (Drums, Backing Vocals) / David Desrosiers (Bass, Backing Vocals) / Sebastien Lefebvre (Guitar, Backing Vocals) / Jeff Stinco (Lead Guitar). With the recent release of their fourth studio album, Get Your Heart On!, Simple Plan continues to gain worldwide recognition. Currently on a sold-out European tour, the multi-platinum, Montreal-based band boasts worldwide sales topping 7 million. Simple Plan’s fourth album, this summer’s Get Your Heart On!, has already reached gold status in Canada and spawned a radio hit in Jet Lag.

A testament to their outstanding popularity, the band has been voted Favourite Canadian Band an unprecedented five times by viewers of the MuchMusic Video Awards. Accolades also include the 2006 JUNO Fan Choice Award and the 2005 Teen Choice Award. The members of Simple Plan have used their global popularity for good by starting the Simple Plan Foundation, which raises money for a variety of charities. In 2009 proceeds from the sale of the band’s single, Save You, were distributed to various cancer charities. Most recently, the Foundation donated $10,000 towards The Canadian Haiti Relief Fund.

With that awesome portfolio, MTV EXIT had made a righteous decision selecting Simple Plan to be the “X factor” of this year’s concert. Performing continuously 12 songs, 5 amazing guys from Canada had been received all the loudest noise with thousands people screaming the name “Simple Plan”. Band’s front-man, Pierre Bouvier had to shout out: “Why would we come to Vietnam sooner?” and “We will be back to your country one day, real soon”.

If you were one of the attendances in MTV EXIT concert, we think you would understand why rock has such a power of miracle. No matter you are rock fan or not, rock really made one of your most remembered experience in your whole life in that Saturday night. And that “remembered experience” turns out to be the success of Matt Love and MTV EXIT Foundation. They brought us a message. Simple sent that message. And we, according to the says of Sir Michael Wilson, Minister-Counsellor from AusAID, are the ones who make the move!

Human trafficking is so common now that it is the third most profitable criminal activity in the world after illegal drugs and arms trafficking. Criminals earn an estimated US$10 billion every year through buying and selling human beings. The impacts of human trafficking are devastating. Victims may suffer physical and emotional abuse, rape, threats against self and family, and even death. But the devastation also extends beyond individual victims; human trafficking undermines the health, safety, and security of all nations it touches. 40,000 fans joined international and local artists in solidarity to fight human trafficking at the MTV EXIT concert, join the fight with us right now, rock fans!

MTV EXIT, Simple Plan and many other artists had sent the message. We, RockPassion Vietnam also send out our message: “We joined the fight! And we will keep fighting!”. Hotline of the Department for Human trafficking prevention – Ministry of Public Security, 06944037, will be installed on our main page throughout the time of MTV EXIT campaign in Vietnam. Call that number when you doubt of any activity related to human trafficking and human exploitation.
